Directions to the M.V. Skate Park

Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts

To get to Martha's Vineyard

This is an island in the North Atlantic Ocean. There is no bridge so you must fly into the airport, paddle or take a ferry. Most people come by ferry. We don't recommend paddling. In the summer there are several boat lines that operate. In the off-season ( mid autumn to mid spring) just two.

Off Season

Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven Steamship Authority (the only car ferry, car reservations required and difficult to get). 45 minute trip

New Bedford to Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs Fast Ferry 60 minute trip

Summer

In addition to the two ferry companies above:

Falmouth to Oak Bluffs Island Queen 35 minute trip

Hyannis to Oak Bluffs Hy-line 1 hour 45 minute trip

Airport

The Martha's Vineyard Airport has scheduled service from Cape Air and U.S. Airways.

To get to the Skate Park

Bus

The Vineyard Transit Authority operates year-round bus service on the island.

The #1 bus operates between the ferry terminal in Vineyard Haven and Edgartown. It stops at the Skate Park.

The #9 bus runs between Oak Bluffs and the Airport. It also stops at the Skate Park.

Taxi

Taxis meet all the ferries and scheduled planes. The taxis cabs don't have meters! There are a lot of other things we don't have here like traffic lights, billboards, reasonable gas prices or McDonalds, but that's another story.

Car

Exiting the ferry in Vineyard Haven, turn left onto a small street. The next intersection is called Five Corners. This is the busiest intersection on the island and there are no traffic lights. Wait for someone to let you in. Turn right and proceed up the hill in the middle lane. Continue up the road to the next major left turn. This is the Edgartown Road. Turn left on the Edgartown Road and proceed 2.5 miles towards Edgartown. The Martha's Vineyard Regional High School will be on your right and just after that will be the Skate Park on your left.

Exiting the ferry in Oak Bluffs, go straight ahead. Go past most of the Oak Bluffs Harbor on your right, take the left turn just before the pond (Sunset Lake) on your left. Follow that road to a T intersection and take a right. Proceed on that road for 3 miles. At the second set of stop signs there will be a traffic light . It is called the blinker. Turn left. The regional high school will be on your right. The skate park is just after it on your left.

If you are coming from the Airport, exit the airport and turned left towards Edgartown. At the next intersection turn left towards Oak Bluffs. Go to the four-way stop traffic intersection, called the blinker and turn right. Go 1/2 a mile towards Edgartown, just past the high school on your right. The Skate Park is just before the Ice Arena, both are on your left.

From Edgartown take the road to Vineyard Haven 4.1 miles. The Skate Park is just after the Ice Arena, both are on your right.

The easiest parking is across the street from the skate park in the high school parking lot.

The Skate Park is located in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts on the Edgartown - Vineyard Haven Road. It's coordinates are 41° 25' 7.62" N, 70° 35' 36.23" W.
